Elusive and Difficult - Peace in the Midde East, page 5 by S.K.
The organizers of the initiative and the rally seem to have the same objective. Even though many are associated with the Unification Movement of ‘Father Moon’, they seem to have no other agenda than to support the actors who have been working towards peace here. One meeting was organized to honor Sun Myung Moon and his efforts for world peace. It did not dominate the events.
The degree of cooperation across the parties is impressive. The initiative appears to be genuinely directed towards a peaceful and lasting solution for the Middle East. The main actors are respectable public figures who have been working for the peace effort for decades. The activities have been going on for two years now and all participants - visitors and locals – hope they will last.
I wonder if there would be a chance to commercialize the efforts, kind of. An attractive adventure or educational vacation package sold through established travel agencies might be well suited to generate the funds required to reach the formidable goal of 20 million visitors. The personal exposure of 20 million people to the situations we witnessed – plus a miracle or two - could make a difference. Business is not usually a religious consideration, but it’s worth a thought.
