Kazakhstan Frees Unification Church Missionary

On Wednesday, March 11, 2009 Kazakhstan plans to release from jail Elizaveta Drenicheva, a Unification Church missionary whose sermon on original sin was ruled a crime against peace and security of humankind. Her sentence has been commuted to time served but she still has to pay a fine of US$ 200 plus court costs of US$ 800.

While this may come as a relief to watchers of religious and human rights, reasons for future concern remain. According to a Washington Times article also other religious groups still are subject to reprisals. Just after Miss Drenicheva was jailed, the head of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness in Kazakhstan, B. B. Govinda Swami, was denied entry despite having a valid visa. Kazakhstan also continues to jail baptist priests for unregistered worship.

Despite the commutation of Mrs. Drenicheva’s sentence and her release from jail the guilty verdict against her still stands. Unification Church members intend to appeal.

Drenicheva was sentenced for ‘having committed heavy crimes against the peace and security of humanity.’

The big crime: Mrs. Drenicheva gathered 4 people for a seminar and over a course of four  days she taught to her audience the Unification Principles, the Theology

of the Church of the Rev. Sun Myung Moon.

It’s been some time since it first came to the theaters. Now it came out on DVD. Check it out.

Direct Dominion - What’s it like?
According to Unification Movement teaching, every human being will at some time enter Heaven, the realm of God’s direct dominion. The details of what that is are kind of foggy, nobody experienced it. Check the Teaching section for theoretical details.

However, a picture says more than a thousand words - so check out this Scene From Heaven.

The Bering Strait Bridge Idea
For decades Sun Myung Moon has talked about a highway around planet earth. Such a street across all racial, cultural and political boundaries is for him just one little step towards his goal of forging the world family of mankind. Now he joins the group of visionaries that see a bridge across the Bering Strait. A small logical step in the grand picture.

Chung Pyung
The movement’s holy ground in Chung Pyung, Korea, has been attracting ever greater crowds over the last decade. Recent projects like a hospital, a school and an old people’s village begin to attract even people from outside the movement. The roots of this place are deeply spiritual and could make for a great mystery movie.
