The outcome of these dealings depends on the free decision of man.
In order to reverse and undo the fall a person in the subject position has to accept and follow a person that originally would be in the object position. That’s the theory behind Cain and Abel.
In the work of restoration, which covers all human history until today, the object position is approached by God who wants to use it as a base to lead the subject into submission and thus accomplish a ‘separation from Satan’.
In Adam’s family Cain and Abel brought offerings to God. God accepted Abel’s offering and rejected or ignored Cain’s. Cain had a problem with that and in addition, according to the Principle, Satan influenced him negatively from the spiritual world. Had Cain managed to submit to Abel, he would have gone against Satan’s will and moved in God’s direction. The Principle calls this the ‘separation from Satan’. As a result, the ‘foundation of substance’ would have been established in Adam’s family and the savior could have appeared in the next generation.
Instead, Cain ends up killing Abel and the history of restoration has to go into a second round in Noah’s time and then a third one and so on.
This is the basic theory behind the Cain-Abel relationship. The Principle applies this pattern to all providential figures in the Bible and comes up with some astounding insights into the background of Biblical events. A short form of this is found on this site’s pages on the teaching.
The Principle also applies the theory of Cain and Abel to historical developments after the coming of Christ up until the end of the Second World War. Also this yields some very interesting insights. Details are found in part two of either the Principle or Level 4.
So far the theory in the historical context.
